The artist's world is limitless.
It can be found anywhere, far from where he lives or a few feet away.
It is always on his doorstep.
— Paul Strand
Holly began painting in oils while at Tulane University studying art and archaeology. She continued to paint in various media in between working anthropology projects in Washington state, The Netherlands, and Memphis TN. When Holly settled on Cape Cod, she became a member artist and for some years served as the administrator of the Falmouth Artists' Guild. Her award-winning oil paintings have been displayed at the Cape Cod Art Association, Falmouth Artists' Guild, and Provincetown Art Association, as well as in Highfield Hall, and Cape Byway Gallery. Her work is also represented in private and corporate collections, including the Doreen Grace Brain Center, and Benthos. Local art critic Peter Koenig described Holly's oil paintings as surrealist, as she likes to add the element of time to her work.
In the 2000s, Holly approached several new media. She made a series of art films that incorporate her own paintings with found images, one of which was accepted into the Seattle Short Film juried show. Holly also began experimenting with digital art media. Her work became a favorite among the global members on digital art sites. She is now offering a limited, signed series of museum-quality giclee prints.
These pictures were created by layering individual elements of nature — such as pieces of fruit, flowers, animals, or gemstones — to interpret favorite subjects.
The gallery exhibits change with new works, so please check back.
These giclees are printed on deckled, museum-quality papers, and when framed are 4 x 6 inches though other print surfaces and sizes are available.
Although an artist may be engulfed with line, color, space, and form to create a picture, the aim is to generate reaction, arrest your thoughts for a moment, perhaps improve the quality of the day.
